Disney has potentially cancelled Star Wars: Rangers Of The New Republic

According to reports, work on the the upcoming Star Wars: Rangers Of The New Republic TV series has stopped, leading to speculation it could be cancelled. Initially announced last year, the show was last of Disney's Mandalorian spin-off plans to capitalise on that show's success.

Little is known about the show's story. However, Disney's Kathleen Kennedy confirmed Rangers Of The New Republic would play into wider events in the series. According to a Variety report, the show is no longer in active development. This is leading fans to speculate the show could well end up cancelled.

Gina Carano

Disney likely cancelled work on the show following Gina Carano’s departure. Disney dropped Carano last year when fans discovered several controversial Instagram posts.

Carano compared our political climate to Nazi Germany, stating: “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.”

“How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” added Carano.

Fans called for Disney to fire Carano, in the days following the discovery of the posts. Disney subsequently confirmed it would drop carano from The Mandalorian.

Cara Dune

It's rumoured that Disney had planned Cara dune to be the lead character in Rangers Of The New Republic. Which could be why the show is on hold.

While Disney hasn’t officially cancelled the show, without a leading character, the show likely won’t be making an appearance any time soon.
