Darth Plagueis appearance revealed for the first time in Star Wars history

Star Wars’ Big Bad Emperor Sheev Palpatine wasn’t always the top dog in the world of the Sith. Before crushing the Republic and telling Anakin Skywalker to slay some younglings, Palpatine was a student of Darth Plagueis.

Details surrounding Darth Plagueis are vague. After all, his story is not one the Jedi would tell you. What we do know is that he was a master of the dark side of The Force, so much so that he could control death itself. But what did the big fella look like, eh?

Darth Plagueis looks pretty damn scary, obviously

In the new Star Wars book The Secrets of The Sith, many details surrounding the dark side are revealed. For example, the book finally explains Rise of Skywalker’s vaguest plot points: Force Dyads. However, what's most interesting is the reveal of Palpatine’s master.

In an image of the succession of the Dark Side, an image shows Ben Solo, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and Plagueis. Most of the ancient Sith master’s features are hidden. Much like Palpatine and other Sith, he wears a thick cloak that hides his face.

What we do see is the typical bright orange eyes attributed to Dark Side features. Alongside a rather slim face and light features similar to Darth Maul's race, Dathomirians, his eyes are prominently glowing. This is to be expected, but Plagueis’ eyes glow a much brighter and deeper orange than the likes of Anakin Skywalker.

Will we ever see more?

Darth Plagueis is one of the most secretive and controversial Star Wars figures. It would make sense that the character would remain shrouded in mystery. With that said, it's not out of the realms of possibility for the character to be used in upcoming projects.

For example, upcoming Disney Plus show The Acolyte will be focusing on the Sith before the prequels. Additionally, other projects set in Star Wars’ past are coming. It would make sense for Plagueis to at least be referenced in some of these if not directly involved.
