As the go-to PC marketplace for the past 20 years, Valve’s Steam platform has seen some curious omissions. After two decades, one of the best strategy games, Command and Conquer has finally been added to the marketplace alongside some other EA PC games.
With Steam hitting its highest concurrent player count ever, multiple publishers are moving their games back to the platform after having their own bespoke apps. EA, Ubisoft and Xbox are all bringing their games to Steam as gamers fight against multiple launchers on their PCs.
Released on Thursday, the original Command and Conquer RTS game is now on Steam. Originally released in 1995, the iconic strategy game is one of the most influential games of all time.
The game’s latest release can be played in multiple ways on Steam. Fans can either buy the game on its own, via an active EA Play subscription or by purchasing the Command and Conquer The Ultimate Collection Bundle.

Command and Conquer (1995)’s Steam release doesn’t only include the original game. Alongside the main campaign, the new release also includes the original Covert Operations expansion pack.
In 2020, this exact game in the series was remastered alongside its sequel by Peteoglyph Games and Lemon Sky Studios. The remaster included 4K textures, a reworked UI, new online features and remastered music.
The new release of the 1995 original is great news for fans of the classic games. While there are other ways to play the game, long-time fans may prefer this release.
