Paradox has revealed that eight free Region Packs will be coming to Cities: Skylines 2. The packs have been designed by several teams of community creators, who are known for some of the game's most popular workshop mods.

Using the free Region Packs, players will be able to customise the style and theme of their cities to one of eight real-world locations. Although we don't yet have a release date, the eight themes included in these packs will be Japan, UK, East-coast USA, West-coast USA, China, France, East Europe, and Germany.

While Cities: Skylines 2 hasn't had the smoothest of launches, fans have reacted eagerly to Paradox's announcement, with many impressed with the level of detail shown in the building models. Moreover, given how recently Cities: Skylines 2 was released, many are excited at what future content awaits for the game.

Some of the creators who were showcased in Paradox's announcement may be recognisable to those who are familiar with the Cities: Skylines modding scene. The German creator Feindbold boasts the fourth-most popular asset pack on the Steam Workshop with his Central Europe collection. Meanwhile, another creator, Darf, may be familiar to those who have used his "Great American cities growables" collection.

In Cities Skylines 2, players now can set different themes in different zones within a given city, which they'll be able to push to its full potential with the addition of these free Region Packs. In the game's predecessor, Cities: Skylines, using different themes was a complicated and tedious process. Many players will be hoping that the process proves to be more intuitive in Cities: Skylines 2 whenever these packs are released.

These Region Packs represent a huge amount of content being released for free early in that game's life cycle. Given its predecessor received support for around 10 years, who knows what we'll see during Cities: Skylines 2's lifecycle.
