Baldur’s Gate 3 won a ton of awards last year, with many deeming Larian’s RPG as the best overall game of 2023, if not the most influential. It seems fans still aren’t tired of this virtual D&D campaign yet, as Larian’s RPG is the most-played Steam Deck game over the past 12 months.

Steam has listed the 100 most-played Steam Deck games on their website and Larian’s RPG has managed to take the top spot. This is pretty surprising since the game had some technical issues at launch, but it seems fans weren’t bothered, with it being a turn-based RPG and all.

Joining Baldur’s Gate 3 in the top 10 are games like Vampire Survivors, Dave the Diver, Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077. These are all top-tier games and the fact that BG3 has managed to top them all is quite the achievement.

Most fans will agree with the fact that Larian’s massive RPG is an anomaly in this field, as it managed to convert a ton of fans into the CRPG genre. Gamers who tried out BG3 and liked it actively looked for similar games, like Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, and even the original Baldur’s Gate entries.

It might take some tinkering from players, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is a pretty good experience on Valve’s Steam Deck. There’s just something about turn-based RPGs that feels right on a handheld, which is why games like Persona and Final Fantasy are perfect fits for Valve’s system. Fans agree with this statement since, well, BG3 is currently the most-played Steam Deck game out of 100 other games.

Larian’s RPG will be remembered for years, and it’s easy to see why. This game is a labor of love, made with a ton of passion by devs with a clear vision. It also helps that D&D is more popular now than ever, but that’s arguably still a niche market.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
