Baldur’s Gate 3 is an RPG that truly embraces its Dungeons and Dragons roots. Fittingly, a fan used the game to create a version of Doric from the recent Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie.

A post from Reddit user tommypicture revealed their in-game version of Doric, the film’s Teifling Druid. The player was inspired to roleplay as her after enjoying the movie and reading The Druid’s Call, a novel tie-in to the film.

“Like most on this sub, I’m consuming as much D&D and Baldur’s Gate content as possible leading up to the launch. I just watched Honor Among Thieves and enjoyed it, so I thought to start reading The Druid’s Call (great book so far),” says the user. “Now I’m playing through as Doric, and being a Tiefling / Druid has some great conversation options in EA.”

Doric is easily the movie’s most interesting character and she has the film’s best scene. Those who’ve watched the film will remember that one-shot sequence where Doric is constantly transforming to escape her enemies. It’s easy to see why she quickly became a fan-favorite.

Early Access has been a big help in the development of Baldur’s Gate 3, resulting in feedback that can be directly fixed. This process also lets fans share what’s possible in this game, like recreating a beloved character from a well-liked movie.

The amount of polish and triple-A money behind this niche project makes it easy to see why game developers think its an anomaly. Seeing all of that money go to sex scenes with a bear and cutscenes that last 170+ hours isn’t always common in major game releases.

Not everything is going smoothly with the game. Despite confirmed release dates for the PC and PS5 versions, Larian Studios is struggling with the Xbox port. Since the studio wants to make the game feel complete for the Xbox Series S, this port has been indefinitely delayed.
