It looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 will be taking over the rest of your life as the RPG features 170 hours worth of cinematics. Since those hours don’t mention gameplay, we assume that this will be a ridiculously long game for RPG nuts to get through.

During a community update on Steam, the devs behind the game confirmed its release date for PC (Aug. 3) and PS5 (Sept. 6), with the Xbox Series versions delayed due to performance issues. However, in addition to the release dates the devs hyped up the game’s features, including 170 hours worth of cinematics.

Larian Studios, the game’s developers, are pretty proud of this, as they proudly flaunted how this game is longer than every Game of Thrones season combined. While that sounds neat, it is making fans wonder just how long this game will be since not everyone has that much time to kill. (I absolutely don’t - Ed.)

While we’re not against long single-player games, the length of Baldur’s Gate 3 is daunting and almost a turn-off. Granted, that’s a lot of bang for your buck and anyone interested in it won’t have to buy another game in a long time, even though Larian is scared of losing out due to Starfield hype. Beyond that, we do think the decision is a wee bit ridiculous.

Hopefully, these cinematics are also included in things like side quests, so that players don’t have to see them all. Otherwise, we’re not sure what kind of gamer just wants to watch this many cutscenes. Even Persona fans aren’t that crazy.

At the least, fans of this franchise do have plenty of things to look forward to. There are plenty of races and character classes to choose from, which is always fun. It was also revealed that the max level, which was originally 10, has been increased to 12.

Plus, the game is coming out early on PC. While we're sure some PS5 owners are excited about the game, this series started its life on computers so this is fitting.
