Baldur’s Gate 3 might be one of this year’s highest-rated games but that doesn’t seem to be the case on Steam Deck. Despite being listed as a “verified” product, fans have said that the RPG is practically unplayable once they reach Act 3.

Fans on the official Steam Deck subreddit have voiced their grievances over this Act being unplayable. The fact this RPG is considered “verified” has made this process something of a joke to users, especially with an act that runs so bad its considered unplayable.

“Verified” is usually saved for games that run on Steam Deck perfectly, or close to it. Having this status means players should be able to play the game without any adjustments to the Proton or system. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case with Baldur’s Gate 3.

Act 3 is the final story phase of the RPG and has been a struggle for most gamers, as pointed out by Digital Foundry. It’s not just Steam Deck owners either, as players with powerful PCs have also struggled with this Act in the story.

To their credit, Larian Studios has attempted to address any major problems plaguing the D&D RPG. Hotfix 4 was even re-deployed because the update caused saving issues, resulting in Larian promising to do better with patches in the future.

Sadly, it seems that Steam Deck players should probably avoid playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for now, due to all these issues. While the final act has been troublesome in gaming PCs as well, it just makes a bad Steam Deck port worse.

It’s not just Larian’s RPG that had a bad Steam Deck version at launch. PlayStation fans will remember how The Last of Us Part 1 on Steam Deck launched in a poor state, looking and running worse than the PS3 original. Funnily enough, The Last of Us is now “verified” but it took plenty of patches to get there.
