If you thought mobile gamers have no games to play, think again. Revealed during the Apple Event 2023 showcase, true AAA games are coming to iPhone 15 Pro Max, including the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Revealed alongside the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, intensive console and PC games are coming to mobile for the first time.

Only available through the power of the iPhone 15 Pro’s new ray-tracing capable A17 Pro SoC, a collection of modern consoles games are now coming to iPhone users in a mind-blowing way. Completely playable natively on iPhone without the need for cloud gaming service, AAA games such as Resident Evil 4 Remake will be available on the hardware.

At the presentation, Apple revealed that native versions of Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. These games will be feature complete, although it’s not known what graphical settings they will be running at.

Additionally, Apple revealed that Ubisoft’s as-of-yet unreleased Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have a native iPhone version later this year. Available across Xbox One, PS4 and next-gen systems, the new Assassin’s Creed game will be feature complete on the new iPhone.

With handheld consoles such as the Nintendo Switch 2 also launching with hardware accelerated ray-tracing, DLSS image reconstruction and other high-end graphical features, mobile hardware is quickly becoming extremely powerful.

Alongside these AAA releases, pre-existing mobile titles will also receive free upgrades to take advantage of the more powerful iPhone. For example, Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail will both have graphical overhauls on iPhone 15 Pro with new rendering features such as volumetric water simulation and more.

At the time of writing, the iPhone 15 Pro versions of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed Mirage are still lacking details for their iPhone launch. For example, it’s not known when the games are releasing, how much they’ll cost or if they’ll be available via the Apple Arcade subscription service.
