Armored Core 6 is the sequel mech fans have been waiting decades for and it looks like the game is running very well. In addition to coming out on current-gen systems and PC, the mech-building simulator will reportedly run very well on Valve’s Steam Deck.

Someone who claims to have played the mech title (via the game’s subreddit) claims it runs near 60 FPS on Steam Deck. This effort from FromSoftware will supposedly put Elden Ring to shame, which is impressive since that also ran well.

Granted, Armored Core 6 is a mission-based mech simulator, so that makes it less demanding than other AAA games. While some fans have complained about Elden Ring’s Steam Deck settings, keep in mind that game is an open-world RPG with legions of enemies in the wild.

Considering how this installment doesn’t stray too far from the formula, the mech simulator running at 60 FPS on Steam Deck seems plausible. Players might have to lower the detail seen on the mechs but that’s something most Steam Deck users are used to doing.

If the post ends up being true, Armored Core 6 could be an impressive AAA game on Steam Deck and PC in general. Not all AAA games are optimized well for PC, as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shows, but From Software can surprise fans with this release.

The Armored Core franchise has been around since the PS1 days, with various spin-off titles released in-between main installments. Prior to 6, the last game we saw in the series was Armored Core 5 way back on the PS3.

FromSoftware has mostly been busy with their Soulslike games. Dark Souls is the game that made this genre of RPG popular, inspiring a ton of similar titles. Elden Ring seems to be the culmination of everything Souls-related created thus far.
