While Apple is late to the AI market, it might be a good thing. Most companies are quick to jump on trends, but Apple has always waited for the right time, ensuring products are ready for release and of high quality. Of course, the company still stumbles, but Apple isn't one to rush things.

Much like the rumored foldable iPhone that could release in 2026, Apple is working on a self-healing screen to avoid issues that many folding devices suffer from. However, while the best AI chatbots improve each year, Apple is eager to bring AI features to iPhone users, especially after Samsung introduced Galaxy AI features for its smartphones earlier this year.

Fortunately, it seems we don't have to wait long. According to a recent report from Bloomberg's Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman has suggested some AI features we might see with the iOS 18 release. It's clear Apple is focusing on key features that enhance your smartphone use rather than overselling the future.

Some of the iOS 18 features include transcribing voice memos, faster and more reliable AI-powered search, auto replies via iMessage and Apple Mail, and more. Many of these tools, like improvements to Safari, are practical and straightforward—they're not going to change your life like the Rabbit r1 and Humane Pin promised or become your ultimate assistant like ChatGPT-4o. They're simple, effective tools that can streamline your daily routines.

While we'd love to see Siri adopt some skills and features from ChatGPT-4o, which already surpasses Siri and Google Assistant's capabilities, it appears that OpenAI and Apple could be working together to offer ChatGPT as an option. This could lead to deeper software integration for the third-party app once the deal is officially announced.

In any case, while some smartphones, like the ASUS ROG Phone 8, have been rushing out AI features, it's nice to see some basic features that should help people with small, monotonous tasks.
