Apple has revealed the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus at the 2023 Apple Event showcase. Following the reveal of the Apple Watch Series 9 and new Apple Vision Pro details, the new iPhone is a huge step forward.
An advancement over last year’s iPhone 14, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus both feature the return of the Dynamic Island. Only available on last year’s Max device, the Dynamic Island is now available on all iPhone 15 devices.
For the device’s camera, the iPhone 15 uses a 48-megapixel sensor with binning to create higher resolution pictures with better low light detection. Additionally, the camera supports better depth sensing to create “next-generation portraits” with better, vivid colours using a rich depth map.
Using machine learning, the iPhone 15 will detect whether or not a person or animal is in the frame to automatically create a portrait image. Additionally, you can now use focus control to change the focus after the fact.
The iPhone 15 comes in give colours that are present across every part of the new device. You’ll be able to get the new iPhone in pink, yellow, green, blue and black with the colours aiming for a more pastel look than traditional iPhone releases.
The iPhone 15 both make use of the A16 Bionic, the same chip found in the iPhone 14 Max. Apple has also introduced new ultra wideband chips for precision Find My Friends and finding your other devices.
The iPhone 15 also features the first use of USB-C charging on an iPhone. Ditching the lightning cable, Apple users will finally be able to charge their phone with a much better cable, as well as the awesome MagSafe chargers.
Apple has also improved the screen on the iPhone 15, bringing an even better OLED panel to the device. Capable of an intense 2000nit peak brightness, the device should have no issue displaying content outdoors.
The iPhone 15 launches at $799 for the 128GB version whereas the bigger iPhone 15 Plus launches at
