Xbox has confirmed the release date for one of their top-of-the-line Xbox Series X models, which will receive a white digital-only version this year.

The all-digital Xbox will be released sometime during June or July of 2024. Documentation for the all-digital Xbox was leaked during Microsoft's battle with the FTC.

Since then, Xbox has tried to deny these rumours. However, a notable leaker, eXtas1s from eXputer, has claimed to have seen official footage of the new console. The design has reportedly shifted from a black cylinder to a more compact white model.

The new console will reportedly have no optical disc reader and will truly be plug-and-play. Naturally, this means that the MSRP for this new console might also be significantly lower than the standard Xbox Series X.

According to the leaks, the design sported by this all-digital Xbox has a new cylindrical design, a front-facing USB-C slot, improved wi-fi, a refreshed controller, and decreased power draw. All of this will contribute to lowering the costs. It's not all downgrades, as we will get an improved heatsink and an upgraded Nexus card

Well, it seems Phil Spencer wasn't lying when he recently promised Xbox would continue their production of consoles. What he didn't mention was they'd be taking a turn away from physical media. Luckily, we also found a different confirmation from Xbox that they would not be abandoning physical media altogether.

Digital media is considered controversial by many players as they feel they can lose their rights to it at the whims of large companies. Hence, the piracy slogan, "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing". We're yet to see any major cases of buying not equating to ownership from Xbox, but this digital-only console might pave the way for that.

Microsoft seems to have tons of changes on the horizon, as they've already declared they'll be releasing four exclusives to the rest of the consoles. They've also promised that the next Xbox will be the largest technical leap in generations.
