Dell has announced the new Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition, the brand’s first AMD/Nvidia combo machine since 2007. Revealed alongside the impressivelycheaper Dell G15 line, this is the company's return to all out power after years of ignoring AMD.
As the first AMD Alienware machine since the 13-year-old Aurora mALX, the Dell gaming brand isn't pulling any punches. Alongside the reintroduction of an AMD/ Nvidia combination, the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition is the company's first 15-inch device to have full-speed 3200Mhz DDR4Mhz RAM.
Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition specs
Starting at $1793.98, the base-spec version of the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition starts with an AMD Ryzen R7 5800H CPU. Paired with an 8GB RTX 3060, 8GB of DDR4 3200Mhz memory and a sizable 86Whr lithium-ion battery, the machine already seems like a tank.
However, moving up the ranks gives the option of even greater hardware. The CPU can be upgraded to a faster Ryzen R9 5900HX and the GPU can be upgraded to an RTX 3070 with 8GB of VRAM. Alienware's max-spec machine comes with a whopping 32GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 3200Mhz.
For the display, the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition has three options: 1080p 165Hz, 1080p 360Hz or 1440p 240Hz. Storage is also a pick and mix all the way from a 256GB M.2 SSD to a 4TB combo of two 2TB M.2 SSD drives.

What's special about this gaming laptop?
As well as being a long-awaited return to AMD, the m15 Ryzen Edition also benefits from Dell's latest partnership. In collaboration with CHERRY MX, the new Alienware machine is the gaming laptop with a full mechanical keyboard.
The custom designed switches utilise metal frames in a new half-size design that will be used for future Alienware machines. As it is a gaming focused machine, the keyboard utilises the typical AlienFX RGB lighting we've come to expect. Just like all machines in the sub-brand, the m15 Ryzen Edition uses the Cryo-Tech cooling systems.
The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition launches in the US on April 20th with a worldwide release on May 4th.
