Is Pavlov VR On Oculus Quest 2: How To Play Pavlov VR On Oculus Quest 2

As the famous experiment once demonstrated, it's possible to hear a bell ring and have an uncontrollable urge to shoot people in a VR game. Or something like that. This guide is all about one question: is Pavlov VR on Oculus Quest 2?

Pavlov VR made its name on Steam, as a multiplayer shooter that can be set in both WWII and the modern era. But whether or not you can play it on the Quest 2, is about to be revealed.

Below, you'll find everything you need to know about is Pavlov VR on Oculus Quest 2, as well as how to play the shooter.

Is Pavlov On Oculus Quest 2?

At the time of writing, Pavlov VR is available for purchase via Steam and playable on your PC. It is not, however, available to purchase directly on the Oculus Quest 2 game store. So it isn't possible to download and install it directly onto your Quest 2 headset.

But this doesn't mean that the story is over. There are a few different options, that might mean you can still play Pavlov VR via your Oculus Quest 2. You will, however, still need a PC with Pavlov VR installed for this to work. Let's look at that in a bit more detail.

Update

Pavlov Shack Beta is now available on the official Oculus Store. It is the Quest spin-off of the original Pavlov VR, optimized for Quest’s standalone hardware. Both Quest and Quest 2 support the multiplayer VR shooter game.

How To Play Pavlov VR On Oculus Quest

Thankfully, it is possible to connect your Quest 2 headset with your PC and use the PC to play games that aren't directly available for the Quest 2. There are a couple of different options to consider.

First, and arguably the simplest, is the Link Cable. By using a cable to connect your Quest 2 with your PC, you effectively use the PC to provide the power. Your headset then becomes the screen and can display whatever you are doing on the screen.

Before you go out and buy a cable though, it's important to check that your PC meets the minimum requirements to use this method. Assuming your computer is powerful enough, here's what you do next:

  1. Open the Oculus app on your PC.
  2. Turn on your Quest 2.
  3. Plug your USB 3 cable into a USB 3.0 port on your PC, and connect the other end to your headset.
  4. You will see a message in your VR headset prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly “Allow” the prompt, simply unplug your USB cable from the Quest and start again.
  5. When prompted to Enable Oculus Link, select Enable to begin remote rendering using Oculus Link.

The Link Cable is 5 metres long, so won't cause issues when it comes to moving around. You can also use other compatible cables if you want to find something a bit cheaper. But there is another option as well, one that allows you to play Pavlov VR wirelessly.

The Wireless Options

There are actually two different wireless methods you can contemplate. One option is to download Virtual Desktop. This then mirrors whatever is on your PC screen. To use this option:

  1. Download and install the Virtual Desktop app.
  2. Open the app, then open Steam VR.
  3. In the Steam VR, Search for Pavlov VR directly or via going to your Steam Library
  4. Click on Pavlov VR to launch it

Alternatively, you can consider using Oculus Air Link, which effectively does the same thing as a Link Cable, but wirelessly. The benefit is that you don't need to go to the expense of buying a new cable, nor are you inhibited by a cable.

The drawback of a wireless method is that the connection is unlikely to be as stable as that of a cable. But should you decide to give this a try, here's what to do:

  • Put on your Quest 2 headset and press the Oculus button to open the universal menu.
  • Select Settings then select Experimental Features.
  • Find and select the button next to Air Link.
  • Read the Air Link Requirements, and then select Continue.
  • Find and select your PC in the Available PCs list then select Pair.
  • Once pairing is complete, you can now click Launch.

You do need to ensure you have v28 of the Oculus software or higher, for Air Link to work. You can check this in your settings menu.

But whether you decide to go for a wired connection, or take a wireless approach, you can be happy that you have options. Now, was that a bell that just rang?
