Snoop Dogg brings virtual weed to The Metaverse, because of course he has

Everyone has a gimmick, and beloved rapper Snoop Dogg has one of the most well-known: a deep, deep love of marijuana. It’s not just a hobby for the musician, it’s a way of life, and an integral part of his image.

On the other hand, Snoop Dogg has moved to make The Metaverse a part of his image as well. With this in mind, it makes sense that the artist would want to somehow bring his joint into the virtual world.

Snoop Dogg wants his Metaverse weed

A recent patent and trademark filing shows that Snoop Dogg is planning to go hard on Metaverse cannabis. Dubbed Uncle Snoop’s, the rapper’s virtual brand is looking to introduce some interesting additions to the Metaverse.

The truly confusing filing lists a number of items that Snoop Dogg is attempting to bring into the virtual world. While the listing notes virtual clothing and virtual smoking paraphernalia, it also lists virtual cannabis and pre-rolled hemp cigarettes.

These products are described as formidable downloadable items to use within the Metaverse. Additionally, Uncle Snoop’s will sell image, audio and video NFTs to would-be customers.

Of course, there is one issue with the sale of virtual cannabis: it won’t do anything. Yes, it could make a player’s screen go wobbly for a bit, but it won’t bring the calming sense of high or the terror of being too high. To which we say, what’s the point?

Virtual Weed Farms?

Snoop Dogg’s virtual weed patent somehow isn’t a new phenomenon. In fact, that rapper has already partnered with Mafia-themed Metaverse MOBLAND to create virtual weed farms.

In a press release, Snoop Dogg claimed that he is a master of his craft and that bringing fake cannabis farms to a video game (sorry, “Metaverse”) is an important next step for him. He explained:

“If it’s flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft. I have been mastering my craft for decades. My son showed me the importance of collaboration with MOBLAND to introduce the first-ever digital weed farms as NFTs. There is a paradigm shift happening here and I want to be at the forefront of this.”

Maybe we just don’t get it at Stealth Optional. Perhaps Snoop Dogg is onto something with these faux joints that don’t even give you the munchies. On the other hand, maybe he’s not and this entire situation is ridiculous.
