After conquering the world of MMORPGs with Genshin Impact, it seems that game developer MiHoYo now wants to conquer the metaverse. The Chinese game company has opened a new studio in Singapore to work on the HoYoverse, which will be their metaverse platform for fans of their work.
Into Singapore’s HoYoverse
HoYoverse was announced earlier this year but plans are going into motion now that MiHoYo has opened their Singapore studio, which will be focused on this metaverse endeavor. Like the North America-based studio that MiHoYo opened, the Singapore studio of HoYoverse will have a flexible working model that allows employees to work when they feel creative and productive.
“Our team in Singapore will play a crucial role in broadening our global development and service network,” said co-founder Forrest Liu in the press release. “We’re eager for more creative minds from diverse backgrounds to join us in building the future.”
MiHoYo is hoping to add hundreds of employees to HoYoverse’s Singapore branch by the end of the year. In addition to working on the metaverse platform, MiHoYo is also hoping to get experts in game development, engineering, marketing, product, operations, function, and project management.

MiHoYo continues to dominate
While we still don’t have a release date for the HoYoverse, MiHoYo will do just fine as Genshin Impact continues to be a success for the company. Alongside the game’s recent 2.8 update, new characters are consistently added to the MMORPG, adding to the story and giving players more things to accomplish.
In addition to Genshin Impact, the HoYoverse also has upcoming games like Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail. Even if the metaverse flops and becomes a forgettable platform, it’s clear that MiHoYo will continue to survive thanks to the beautiful anime characters they make and the fans who eat them up.
