Marvel’s Wonder Man has been cast, and it’s not Henry Cavill

With Phase Four about to end and Phase Five coming soon, fans are really interested in the future of Marvel. It looks like Wonder Man might be coming to the big screen soon and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks, not Henry Cavill.

Fans of the comics know that Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, is a failed actor turned supervillain than superhero. Should Marvel end up casting Abdul-Mateen II, he would do a good job in that role, assuming he accepts it.

Do we have our Wonder Man?

Exclusively revealed by Screen Geek, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is reportedly in talks to play as the fairly popular Marvel superhero. Many were hoping that Henry Cavill would play the role but that doesn’t seem to be happening, especially with his return to the DCEU rumored.

This wouldn’t be the first time Abdul-Mateen II was cast in a superhero film, previously playing Black Manta in Aquaman. Beyond superheroes, the actor has been in several big projects, including The Matrix Resurrections, Candyman, and next year’s Aquaman 2.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a very talented actor and we’re sure he’ll do the character justice, assuming he accepts it. Hopefully, weirdos on the internet don’t get too upset since the character was originally white and might be played by a black man.

Who is Wonder Man?

For those not in the know, Wonder Man is one of the more powerful Marvel characters after he was experimented on by Baron Zemo. Originally one of the villains that The Avengers fought, he soon became a hero and joined them on many adventures.

Though not the most prolific superhero, his friendship with X-Men character Beast and constant presence with The Avengers has made him a favorite. It will be interesting to see what Marvel Studios does with the character, especially if Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is on board.
