Falcon and the Winter Soldier star discusses potential for big MCU return

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now over, but young star Elijah Richardson recently spoke with TheDirect.com about reprising his role as Eli Bradley.

Eli Bradley was the son of super soldier Isaiah Bradley. Isaiah was a super soldier who underwent terrible experiments. In his old age, grandson Eli stays with him to protect him.

Having gone through terrible experiments and fighting for his country, Isaiah was wiped from the history book. His contributions to the country, rendered meaningless.

The last time we saw the pair in the show, Eli took his grandad to the Captain America exhibit. In one of the shows more touching moments, Isaiah’s contributions to the country had been officially memorialised. The pair played a relatively small part in the series, however Eli could return in a much more prominent role.

The actor who played Eli recently spoke to TheDirect.com about his role in Falcon and the Winter Soldier: “I did my research after I found out I got the role. I tried to figure out who Elijah Bradley was, and what relationships he might have with other people maybe in the Marvel Universe.”

In the show, Eli only had a small part to play in events. However, Eli Bradley in the comic books had more of an impact on the world.

On returning to the MCU, Bradley is hopeful he’ll get the call from Marvel in the future: "Honestly that’s kind of all it is, is hopes and dreams. I mean, yeah obviously, who doesn’t want to be a part of the MCU? Right? But I mean, we’ll see. It’s more of a we’ll see."

Young Avengers

Considering some of the other character introductions we’ve seen in the MCU over the past few years, it’s likely we could see Elijah reprising his role of Eli pretty soon.

Marvel has already announced its plans for a fourth Captain America film, so we can expect to see Eli return then.

Eli Bradley played an important role in the comics, taking on the mantle of Patriot a super soldier and leader of the Young Avengers.

In isolation, Eli’s introduction to the MCU wouldn’t be anything to shout about. However, Marvel has already introduced a number of Young Avengers characters to the universe. Wandavision had Tommy and Billy Maximoff while Ant-Man introduced Cassie Lang. Other characters from the series will appear soon as well, meaning we could get a Young Avengers movie or TV series in the future.

Eli posted an Instagram photo last month with the caption “This may only be the beginning of Eli Bradley” adding to the speculation of a Young Avengers project.
