Doctor Strange sequel reportedly filming £2 million scene in Somerset

Marvel is currently in the process of filming the upcoming Doctor Strange 2 in a custom-built £2million dollar set at a farm in Somerset.

The next film in the series is titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Sami Raimi is leading production on the film which will star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Benedict Wong as Wong.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the 28th film in the Marvel universe, and the first film to release since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The sequel will also be the first film to release post-COVID pandemic, after Marvel halted the filming of all live-action films during the midst of the pandemic in 2020.

£2 Million Scene

According to a report by SomersetLive, the cost of filming just one scene at the farm is £2million. This is according to one of the security guards at the set, who spoke with two locals.

The filming site has strict security procedures in place with constant car patrols and numerous guards at entrances around the site.

According to reports, filming took place between Thursday (15th) and Saturday (18th). The final shot yesterday involved a drone shot at Burrow Hill Cider Farm.

Film initially started back in November 2020, but increased lock down restrictions placed filming for Doctor Strange on hold.

Wandavision

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is rumoured to feature several Wandavision characters, including twins Billy and Tommy. Locals in the area have reported seeing twins on set, so it's likely this rumour is true.

The sequel will directly follow the events of Avengers: Endgame and Wandavision. It makes sense that there’s going to be a fair amount of crossover between the TV show and film.
