Xbox Series X Not Connecting To Wi-Fi: How To Fix Xbox Series X Internet Problems

Is your Xbox Series X not connecting to Wi-Fi or through ethernet? You are not alone. Problems with connecting to WiFi are incredibly common, and not just for Xbox fans. This article, is however, primarily for Xbox fans. Because today we'll be looking at how to fix Xbox Series X Internet Problems. And no, we don't mean that your Xbox is doom scrolling into the middle of the night. There is a lot to cover, so let's jump straight in.

What to do if you can't connect to WiFi

If your issue is being caused because you are unable to actually connect to your network in the first place, then start by doing the following:

  • Make sure your router is broadcasting the SSID. This is the network name. If this isn't being broadcast, your Xbox may not be able to a actually find your network. See if another wireless device can find the router. If it can't then it's a problem with your router. In this case, consult your user guide for advice on getting the SSID to broadcast.
  • Once you've made sure you can find the network, make sure you are entering the correct password for the network. Once you have verified that the password and SSID are both correct, it's time to retest your connection. To do this:
    • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    • Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
    • Select Test network connection.

Series X not connecting to network problems? Try these fixes!

There are a huge number of possible steps you can take at this point. Let's start with the basics:\

  • Power cycle your console, and also your router/modem. Leave them off for about five minutes before switching them back on.
  • Disconnect any third-party wireless headsets, as the frequencies they use often overlap with the frequencies of wireless routers.
  • Try to minimise any possible sources of disruption to the signal. Microwaves, ovens, other wireless networks, speakers, can all interfere with the signal. Try to have as few walls between your console and your router as possible. And try to minimise the number of other devices jostling for bandwidth.
  • Check your signal strength. You can do this by:
    • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  • Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
  • Select Test network speed & statistics.
  • If your signal strength is low, as well as following the tips we mentioned above, try lifting your router and console off the floor, and away from dense objects. You may also consider getting a signal booster.
  • Try an Ethernet connection instead of using WiFi.
  • Test your console in another location. If it improves performance, then you may want to contact your ISP in case there's a problem with your internet speeds, or your router. If it doesn't improve performance, then this may point to a hardware issue on your Xbox. In this case, contact Xbox Support for additional help. abc
