The popularity of The Last of Us 2 was dominant last year, and the PS4 headliner is very capable at running even better with the much newer PS5 console.
This is all possible with the PS5's built-in backwards compatibility - wherein games for the older legacy system (PS4 or earlier) could be played on the more advanced Sony-developed console.
Fans may get to embark their journey on the game but on a different mode or offered by the backwards-compatibility of the PlayStation 5.
With that being said, here's how to play The Last of Us 2 on PS5.
How to play The Last of Us 2 on PS5
The backwards compatibility feature does wonders when it comes to bringing a more nostalgic feeling of letting players try on their actual PS4 games on the PS5.
There are various ways wherein players may do this. One is by inserting a physical PS4 game disc in a PS5 with a disc function. Another option is by transferring digital games from the PS4 going to the PS5.
For the digital transfer option, players may do it by utilizing a Wi-Fi connection to perform such data transfer.
You can also do this by installing a digital PS4 game to your PS5 through the game library option. But even if you attempt any of the above, your PS4 progress in The Last of Us 2 will be carried over to your PS5.
The Last of Us 2 PS5 patch?
Yet even with the game's compatibility with the PS5 has been proven there are rumours that spread about an alleged patch for the game 'currently on the works.'
Screenrant reports that the news came from a ResetEra user named Navtra. The info that was mentioned implied a possible game patch for The Last of Us 2. Although the user also claimed that he was quite unsure if it was still happening.
However, with tonight's 'State of Play' event being held, we may see confirmation of this with not long to wait.
Game developer Naughty Dog has yet to confirm whether the alleged game patch is true or not. But the only thing guaranteed is the fact that The Last of Us 2 can definitely be played on the PS5 right now - with or without the game patch.
