Red is associated with strength. Blue is for intelligence. Green is for dexterity. The last one, which is white, is not associated with any character ability aspect.

The Crafting Bench also allows players to modify sockets in Path of Exile, thus it could change the socket color.
It can be found in the hideout of the player. Yet using it would cost you some dose of currency, ranging from scrolls to orbs.
