If you were wondering whether your Oculus Quest 2 download games in sleep mode or when off, here is everything you need to know.
As with almost any game console, the fun is not when you are downloading a game. With Xbox and PlayStation consoles, you can continue to download a game even when the console is in Rest Mode.
But is the same true for Oculus Quest 2 downloads? Or must you keep your headset turned on and actively watch the progress bar as it edges towards its destination?
Let's tackle that burning question.
Does The Oculus Quest 2 Download Games In Sleep Mode Or When Off?
If you want to start an Oculus Quest 2 download, and then go off and do something else, you can.
Happily, putting the Quest 2 into sleep mode/standby does not interrupt the download. This will save battery, as the headset will stop running any processes that run when the headset is fully awake and active. It may also serve to speed up your download, as there will be fewer activities competing for bandwidth.
The story is slightly different if you turn the headset off, however. When you turn off the Quest 2, it will sever any network connection that it had, so the download will not be able to continue. Once you switch it back on, it will re-establish the network connection, and resume the download.

Any Other Useful Information?
In relation to Oculus Quest 2 downloads, if you're headset is in Sleep Mode, then you will also be able to download new content via your phone. The process is incredibly simple:
- Open the Oculus app and tap Store from the bottom menu.
- Select what you want to download.
- Tap the price to buy it, or tap Free if it's a free download.
In theory, your Quest 2 will then automatically start downloading your game, ready for you to pick up and play. Once again, this process won't work if the headset is completely switched off.
If for any reason, you can't find the content you've just downloaded, you need to put on your Quest 2 and check the Not Installed section of the menu. This will show you any content that you've purchased but is yet to finish downloading.
