Call of Duty: Warzone has been a smash hit for Activision since its release in March 2020. With over 100 million players, it seems remarkable that up until now, there has been no Call of Duty: Warzone on Nintendo Switch, one of the best selling consoles on the market. In fact, Nintendo and Call of Duty have kept their distance, with the most recent COD game on Nintendo's website being COD: Ghosts, for the Wii U, from back in 2013. So has anything changed recently, that might give Switch players cause for optimism? Let's have a look.
Is Call Of Duty: Warzone on Nintendo Switch?
In a word: no. In comparison to the PS4, Xbox One, and now the new generation of consoles, the Nintendo Switch is significantly less powerful. Given the level of detail and scale of the game, there remains a question mark about just how well it would translate onto the Switch. Well, it's not really a question mark. More a statement of fact that the Nintendo Switch simply wouldn't be able to cope with the demands of the game. This is even more true now that Warzone has moved on from Verdansk, and is now exploring the Pacific.
There are also question marks around how good the internet connectivity actually is on the Switch, and whether Warzone would run effectively. Coordinating a game with 150 players, and an absence of proper voice chat, has the potential to make this problematic.
All in all, and given the total absence of COD games on the Switch, it seems highly unlikely that we will ever see Warzone on this console. But rather than just leave things there, let's take a look at your options.

What are some Call of Duty alternatives?
If Battle Royale games are your jam, and you really want to play one on the Switch, you haven't been abandoned completely. There are still some great games available, most notably Fortnite and Apex Legends.
There is also the possibility that we will see a new console released by Nintendo this year. With increasing chatter about a Switch Pro, the expectation is that it will have significantly beefed-up specs, including potential 4K output when docked. So it's definitely a possibility that a new console would have the capability to run Warzone effectively. While we don't know anything for certain at this stage, Call of Duty being available on Nintendo would be a potential money-spinner for Activision. And we can be sure they like money.
Of course, now that Microsoft has announced a deal to purchase Activision, there are huge question marks about the future of franchises such as Call of Duty. Specifically, will Microsoft eventually make these titles exclusive to Xbox? After all, not long after acquiring Bethesda, Microsoft's Phil Spencer confirmed that future titles such as Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI would become Xbox exclusives. So there is a precedent. And if that also proves to be the case with Call of Duty: Warzone, then It's even less likely we'll ever see it make its way to Nintendo.
