Error Code: -105
Unable to connect to server. Server may be offline or you may not be connected to the internet
This would typically indicate an internet-related issue. Remarkably, however, this error has also affected players even when they have a working internet connection. There are three main reasons for this issue:
- A faulty internet connection
- DNS settings
- AdBlocker software

How to Fix Steam Error Code 105
Here's a look at the possible options for you to fix Steam Error Code 105.
Check your Internet connection
The first thing to check is whether a fault with your internet connection that is responsible. Resetting your router, and then logging back in, is an obvious starting point.
It is also worth making sure that your connection is stable, and that you don't have too many devices and apps competing for bandwidth. If you have been using a wireless connection, you can try swapping this for a wired connection, or vice-versa.
Additionally, you could consider switching from Wi-Fi to a cellular hotspot, to see if indeed, the internet connection is to blame. If it is, and all these tips cannot remedy the error, then it might be worth checking with your ISP in case of a service issue at their end.
DNS settings
If the DNS settings have been changed or become corrupted, this can stop the Steam client from working correctly, and lead to error code 105. So it is possible to flush your DNS settings, to see if this fixes matters. To do this:
- Press the Windows key and R together
- In the run prompt, type cmd and press enter
- Next, in the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns
- Press enter
- Once the process is complete, restart the Steam client and see if the issue has been addressed
Steam Error Code 105 from AdBlocker
There are reports that there is a bug within the Steam client, that does not get on well with AdBlockers. Essentially, the AdBlockers seem to then interfere with the Steam client and prevent it from working properly. If you have AdBlocker software installed on your computer there are two options:
- You can disable the AdBlocker extension on your browser
- You can decide to uninstall the AdBlocker altogether.
Whichever you decide, restart your computer and then relaunch Steam.
