How to connect wireless Bluetooth headphones to Android phone: Link up your Apple Airpods, Samsung Galaxy Buds or any other headphones to Android


You might have just bought some new Bluetooth headphones for your Android phone, and now you need to connect them.

Whether you've got Apple Airpods, Samsung Galaxy Buds, to some other wireless bit of kit, you definitely need to know what to do.

After all, headphones without a connection are like a pizza without pineapple on; worthless and wrong.

Connecting Bluetooth headphones is pretty easy, you just need to follow these steps and you'll be good to go:

  • Turn on Bluetooth either in the Settings, or by using the Swipe down menu
  • Open up your Settings
  • Select Connected devices
  • Select Pair new device
  • Choose the headphones you want to link to your phone
  • Select Pair

If you can't see the headphones when you're on the second to last step, just make sure they're in pairing mode and that should sort it.

How to connect Apple Airpods to an Android phone

The good news is that you can be one of those strange people who buy mismatched tech. Not only will it probably annoy a lot of your friends, but you'll also be losing out on some of the features of each.

Nevertheless, all you need to do is follow the instructions above to pair your Apple Airpods to an Android phone.

The only difference is that when you get to the Connected devices step, you'll need to push the button on the back of the Airpods case and hold it near the phone to be able to find it and connect the two.

This is the easiest of the bunch if you're using a Samsung Galaxy, which makes sense. Here's what you need to do:

  • With the Galaxy Buds in their charging case, open up the case and they'll enter pairing mode
  • Your Android phone should get a pop-up from SmartThings, choose Connect
  • Follow the on-screen instructions

If you're using a different Android phone, then just follow the first set of instructions.
