With that, here’s everything you need to know about connecting your DualSense PS5 controller to an Apple iPad or Android tablet…
Can a DualSense PS5 controller connect to an Apple iPad or Android tablet?
When it comes to Android tablets, it’s a big yes. From Fortnite to Sonic, your device will recognise that a controller is connected, and you can play away. There’s even some additional benefits, such as using the ‘PS Button‘ to go back to the home screen when you wish.
With iPad, it’s more of a work in progress situation. It’s been confirmed that Apple is rolling out support for the new PS5 controllers very soon, with the function set to arrive in the iOS 14.5 update for iPhone and iPad.
The Verge reports that the 14.5 upgrade is currently available to beta testers, so, with any luck, it shouldn’t be too long before it drops for the rest of us. There isn’t a confirmed date for that yet, but we’ll let you know when we found out.

- Go to ‘Connected Devices‘ in ‘Settings‘ on your Android device
- Select ‘Pair New Device‘
- Hold down ‘PS Button‘ and ‘Create‘ on your DualSense.

- Go to ‘Settings‘ and ‘Bluetooth‘ on your iPad
- Hold down ‘PS Button‘ and ‘Create‘ on your DualSense
- A ‘Wireless Controller‘ will appear in the list

It’s incredibly useful to use your controller for other devices, especially if you have an Android or iOS tablet.
Playing Fortnite, Call of Duty or something else with the DualSense instead of using your fingers is so much better.
And once iOS 14.5 lands officially, the experience of using a PS5 controller on your iPad is likely to improve dramatically. Watch this space!
