How To Fix Battlefield 2042 Mouse Bug Error

Battlefield 2042 recently released its 3rd update, in a bid to fix some of the many issues that have been plaguing the game. Unfortunately, the law of unintended consequences means that in delivering the patch, they've also managed to create a Battlefield 2042 Mouse Bug. This has created a problem for players, who, as well as having issues even accessing a game in the first place, are now struggling to control their characters with any kind of precision. In this article, we'll explain what the Battlefield 2042 mouse bug is, and how to fix it.

How To Fix Battlefield 2042 Mouse Bug Error

While this was clearly not an intended outcome of the latest game update, it has created a significant problem for any players who are trying to play the game using a mouse. On their Twitter feed, @BattlefieldComm, they ahve at least acknowledged the issue, and suggested the following fix:

Restore default settings by removing "PROFSAVE" files in My Documents > Battlefield 2042 > Settings to keep playing

They do warn that doing this will reset all your in-game settings. But that's probably a small price to pay to be able to actually use your mouse properly.

Separately, some players have reported that instead of doing this, resetting their mouse settings seems to ahve sorted the Battlefield 2042 mouse bug. Try the following steps if you prefer:

  • Head into My Documents > Battlefield 2042 > Settings.
  • Open PROFSAVE_profile with Notepad.
  • Find GstKeyBinding.infantry.ConceptYaw.
  • Delete all of the lines and save file.

And one final possibility to fix this glitch, by resetting the On foot settings and keybinds:

  • Launch Battlefield 2042
  • Open up Settings
  • Navigate to Mouse & Keyboard then On Foot
  • Select Restore Default
  • Open up the Keybindings box
  • Hit Restore Default again

But what exactly is the mouse bug, and how do you know when you are faced with it? We'll cover that next.

What Is The Battlefield 2042 Mouse Bug Error?

The mouse bug error applies to gamers on PC. For whatever reason, after update 3 went live, players are no longer able to use horizontal mouse inputs. In essence, this means that you can't control or move your character the way you normally would, either to the left or the right. Which, in a warzone, is probably something of an issue.

If you find yourself in the maddening situation of trying to move quickly to attack or evade, but find yourself going nowhere, there's a good chance that the mouse bug has affected you. Of course, it could just be that you are terrible at video games. But we'll imagine you've already diagnosed whether that is the issue.

If you suspect the Battlefield 2042 mouse bug is effecting your gameplay, then give the fixes we outlined above a try. And hopefully you'll soon find yourself with full movement restored. Whether your faith in the game will be similarly rejuvenated, is another matter. After all, this is yet another fairly major issue in the very short lifespan of the game. And after such a negatively received launch, you wonder how many more missteps with this game players will be willing to forgive.
