Apex Legends performance: Best settings for smooth gameplay

Apex Legends season 8 is out now. It brings with it some impressive changes, and you might be jumping back in for the first time in a while.

Well, you may have found that your system is struggling with the game, and if you want to boost your performance, then you'll need to know how.

Obviously you should make sure other programs are closed down, but that's not always enough.

So, here are the best settings in Apex Legends settings for performance above all else.

What causes low performance in Apex Legends

The main things that can cause issues with performance in Apex Legends are the settings. While making the game look pretty is nice, it can sometimes be a little more than your machine can manage.

To offset that, you can often gain a big performance boost by messing around with the graphical settings.

You should also always double-check that any other programs you were running have been closed down, and also check that your internet connection isn't being used too intensely.

More often than not though, performance comes down to your settings, so we've put together a very easy to follow list of the things you should change.

The best settings for Apex Legends performance

The basic rule to follow is that you should just set everything as low as possible and then go from there.

Your system will dictate which settings slow things down and which things don't so a bit of experimentation will go a long way.

The key settings to turn down, or off entirely, are V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, Texture Streaming Budget, Ambient Occlusion Quality, Sun Shadow Coverage, Volumetric Lighting, and Model Detail.

If you turn all of those down or off, then you'll see a very notable improvement in your game's performance.
