HTC Vive: How to use the in-built headset mic or an external microphone

Using a mic on your headset may let you speak to someone online, or record your own voice, or do any number of other things. As for the HTC Vive VR headset, it also has a built-in mic you can use.

When it comes to external mics, the headset itself does not have a microphone jack on it, so you'll have to do some cunning moves if you want to use one.

And here are the steps on how to use the HTC Vive headset mic:

Use the HTC Vive headset's built-in mic

The HTC Vive headset already has a built-in mic on it. You can use it while engaging through a VR experience that will require your voice.

You can find it on the headset's middle part, right near your mouth and nose.

But, of course, just like any built-in mics for devices like that, this will not give you the best quality on the market.

Use the an external mic on your HTC Vive headset via splitter

As the Reddit page of HTC Vive suggests, you can use an external mic with the help of a splitter.

You can use a 3.5mm splitter to separate your external mic and your headphones. Then you'll want to connect it to a separate USB, and then plug it to the spare port on your headset.

You can buy your splitter here. As for the USB, you can also purchase it here.
