It's set to be a complete game-changer and bring some impressive specs to the table, but just how fast will DDR5 RAM actually be?

As usual, the world of tech is rife with rumours and 'leaks', which can be pretty easy to get excited about. However, DDR5 rumours have been around for quite some time now, so it's worth tempering expectations. Let's take a look at what's out there.

Max RAM speed of DDR5?

At the time of writing, there have been a number of different maximum speeds claimed to be for DDR5, some reaching all the way up to 51.2 GB per second while others state a maximum speed of 6.0 GB per second.

Very little information has come out from manufacturers regarding the maximum speed. However, there have been numerous benchmarks that have come forward which show an impressive boost in speed when compared to DDR4.

When will DDR5 RAM be released?

At this point, manufacturers have yet to announce a release date for DDR5, and it looks like Ryzen and Intel may be using DDR4 in their next-generation processors, according to NeoGaf.
