Twitch chat is a great way to interact with your viewers and build a community around your stream. However, it can also be a source of spam, harassment, or other unwanted behavior. That’s why you need to add mods to your Twitch chat.
Mods are trusted users who can help you manage your chat and enforce your rules. They can delete messages, time out users, ban users, and more. Having mods can make your streaming experience more enjoyable and less stressful.
But how do you add mods to your Twitch chat? There are different ways to do this, depending on whether you are using a computer or a mobile device, and whether you are streaming or not. In this article, we will show you how to make someone a mod on Twitch.
How to make someone a mod on Twitch
There are three different ways to promote someone to moderator on Twitch. Let's take a look at each method:
The mod command
The mod command is the easiest and fastest way to make someone a mod on Twitch. You can use this command directly from your Twitch chat, even if the user is not watching your stream currently.
To use the mod command, you need to type /mod [username] and press Enter. For example, if you want to make Streamlabs a mod, you would type /mod Streamlabs and press Enter. You will see a confirmation message in the chat that says, “[username] is now a moderator of this channel.”
To remove a mod, you can use the /unmod [username] command. For example, if you want to remove Streamlabs as a mod, you would type /unmod Streamlabs and press Enter. You will see a confirmation message in the chat that says, “[username] is no longer a moderator of this channel.”
Via stream chat
If you are streaming and the user you want to make a mod is watching your stream, you can use your stream chat to grant them moderator privileges. This method is more convenient than typing the mod command, as you don’t need to remember the exact username of the user.
To use mouse commands, you need to click on the username of the user in the chat. This will open a pop-up menu with various options. Then, you need to click the icon of a person with a plus sign next to it. To remove a mod, you can click the same icon again.
Via Roles Manager
The Roles Manager is a feature that allows you to manage the roles and permissions of your channel members. You can access the Roles Manager from your Creator Dashboard by going to the Settings tab and clicking on Roles Manager. This method is useful if you want to add multiple mods at once, or if you want to see a list of all your mods.
To add a mod via Roles Manager, you need to search for the username of the user you want to make a mod in the search box. Then, you need to click Add a Role or Add New and select Moderator from the drop-down menu.
To remove a mod via Roles Manager, you need to click the X icon next to the username of the user you want to remove as a mod.
