What is the strange chunk of amber used for?

You don’t exactly use the strange chunk of amber in the traditional sense. Instead, you’ll need to remove it from a display case as part of a puzzle in the Blood of Lathander quest.

Completing the quest will reward you with a mace that is also called Blood of Lathander. This mace will grant its wielder Lathander’s Blessing, which can restore 2 to 12 hit points to the user when their health goes down to 0.

Aside from that, the strange chunk of amber doesn’t seem to hold any significance to other parts of the game. You can also find some regular chunks of amber during this quest which can be sold for an extra bit of coin.

Where is the strange chunk of amber?

The strange chunk of amber is found inside a room in the Rosymorn Monastery. The monastery is located in the Mountain Pass region of the map, near the Creche Y’llek.

You can start the Blood of Lathander quest by interacting with a plaque below a statue of Lathander which is just outside the monastery. This quest becomes available during Act 2.
