What are Muznakan Carvings in Lord of the Rings Return to Moria?

Muznakan Carvings are small sculptures and carvings left behind by ancient dwarves. You can find these scattered around various areas, with each Muznakan Carving belonging to a specific set of Muznakan. The Muznakan itself is a shelf where all the Muznakan Carvings are supposed to be placed together. Each area has its own set of Muznakan Carvings that you need to collect in order to complete the Muznakan.

How to find Muznakan Carvings in Lord of the Rings Return to Moria

Due to the RNG and procedurally generated nature of Return to Moria, it's hard to provide specific locations for Muznakan Carvings.

You'll mostly be running into them when you notice the prompt for a Muznakan Carving on your screen. They can also be hidden in corners of rooms, making them hard to spot. We had luck collecting them from Orkish Chests, so be sure to cover those.

While Muznakan Carvings are a finite resource and finding them can be frustrating due to the RNG, you can keep track of the number you need and the total that you're missing by interacting with the Muznakan itself. When you interact with a Muznakan, it will show you how many Muznakan Carvings you are missing.

How to use Muznakan Carvings in Lord of the Rings Return to Moria

You have to collect all the Muznakan Carvings in an area and place them at the Muznakan Altar for that specific location. On their own, they don't do anything. However, once you have them all, you can complete the Muznakan Altar and unlock the reward waiting for you.

Note once more that each area will have its own Muznakan Altar with its own unique set of Muznakan Carving locations. The Altar's location is RNG-dependent as well, making it one of the hardest puzzles to solve in Return to Moria. Finding all the Muznakan Carvings can take several hours.

Once you have all the Muznakan Carvings and have completed the set, you can interact with the Muznakan Altar, and it will behave like a regular chest. However, the material inside will be much better than a regular chest. It will include valuable gems and multiple recipes for gear called Craft Plans.
