If you’re looking to experience the wonders of Minecraft in VR, you’ve likely heard of QuestCraft. However, as the fan-made Minecraft VR port is unofficial, you’ll need to learn how to install QuestCraft on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and even the original Oculus Quest headset.

In order to play QuestCraft, you’ll need a PC, a USB-C cable, a free installation of SideQuest, one of the best VR headsets right now, and an officially owned copy of Minecraft Java Edition. With all of these, you’ll be able to install and play QuestCraft on your VR headset.

There are a lot of steps involved with getting QuestCraft running, but don’t worry. Simply follow the below steps to get the game running and you’ll be good to go.

How to Install QuestCraft

Here’s how to install QuestCraft on your Meta Quest headset to play Minecraft in VR:

  • Install SideQuest and ensure it is up-to-date.
  • Follow our how to sideload Quest 3 games guide.
  • Connect your Meta Quest headset to your PC via USB-C.
  • Inside the Quest headset, allow connections to your PC via the pop-up.
  • On your PC, search “QuestCraft” in SideQuest.
  • On the QuestCraft page, click the pink “Sideload” button and wait for the game to be installed on your Quest headset.
  • Put on your Quest headset and navigate to the Apps menu.
  • Click on the filter tab at the top (which reads “all” by default) and select “Unknown Sources”.
  • Click on “QuestCraft” and wait for the game to load.
  • Inside the game, sign-in with the Microsoft Account connected to your Minecraft purchase.
  • Press Play.

How to install QuestCraft mods

As QuestCraft simply runs a VR mod for Minecraft’s Java Edition, you can also install a host of Minecraft mods for this awesome Quest experience.

Even better, installing QuestCraft mods is super easy with modding built into the game’s launcher on your VR headset. In the launcher, simply click on the mods button and search for the mods you want, click on them, and then click the download button.

Of course, you should also make sure that you’re only installing mods created for the version of Minecraft that’s currently running in QuestCraft.

If you want to install a mod that isn’t currently available in this mods menu, you can also manually download mods and move them onto your Quest headset. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Connect your Quest headset to your PC
  • Open your File Explorer and navigate to Android, Data, COM.QCXR.QCXE, Files, .Minecraft and then the folder for the version of Minecraft the mod was made for.
  • Simply copy and paste or move your mod files into this folder.

As always with modding, make sure that any dependencies a mod has are also installed alongside it. If you fail to install all dependencies for a mod, your game may crash until you uninstall those mods.
