In one instance, you may be left wondering how to get through noxious fumes in Baldur’s Gate 3. These fumes are quite deadly, so we’ve put this guide together to help you get past them safely.

You’ll come across a lot of peculiar things like a strange ox or a flower key in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it looks like the noxious fumes are just some good old-fashioned toxic gases. And if trying to walk through deadly fumes wasn’t dangerous enough, you also run the risk of setting off some explosive flora in the area.

So, let’s figure out how to get through noxious fumes in Baldur’s Gate 3 so you can continue your progress through the role-playing game.

How to get through noxious fumes in Baldur’s Gate 3

To make it past the noxious fumes, you’ll need to obstruct the vent where the gas is coming from. This can be done by throwing an item on top of it. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do that:

  • Approach the fumes for a Perception check. When successful, the vent will be revealed as a Ruptured Stone.
  • Use a ranged attack on one of the Peculiar Flowers within the fumes or cast a fire spell on the gas itself.
  • Wait for the flames to die down and the fumes to come back.
  • Throw any item on top of the Ruptured Stone to block the vent.
  • If done correctly, the fumes will disappear and you should be able to pass through safely.

Take caution when proceeding through this area even after getting rid of the noxious fumes. Some of those explosive flowers might still be around and one wrong step could set them off.

Where are the noxious fumes?

You will come across these awful fumes in the Hag’s Lair while trying to save Mayrina from the hag known as Auntie Ethel. You can get to the Hag’s Lair through a hut in a swamp just south of the Blighted Village.

Once you’ve made it past the noxious fumes, get ready to fight Auntie Ethel herself. This is considered to be one of the tougher battles in Baldur’s Gate 3, so it’s important to get through the fumes unscathed to save your resources for this fight.
