If you’re diving deep into the fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you may want to backup your save file from time to time. With Capcom’s adventure offering a more realistic, difficult experience, there’s no official method of backing up your save.

However, on PC, it’s fairly easy to find your Dragon’s Dogma 2 save and back it up elsewhere on your system. This article will teach you where to find your save time and how to back it up with ease.

Where is Dragon’s Dogma 2 save file located?

Unlike most games, the save file for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not kept within the actual install folder for the game. Furthermore, you won’t file the file located in your My Games folder either. In fact, it’s quite hidden away.

Instead, head to your Steam install folder and open the UserData submenu. In here, open the folder your profile is assigned to and then click on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 ID: 2054970. Next, navigate to Remote and find the win64_save folder. This will include your save file.

  • Head to your Steam install folder
  • Open your userID folder
  • Head to folder 2054970
  • Open the Remote folder
  • Your save is located in win64_save

In order to backup the save, simply copy and paste this folder elsewhere on your PC. This will allow you to keep your save safe while you start a new character. However, be warned: you may only have one active character save available at a time.

How to restore Dragon’s Dogma 2 save

Unfortunately, restoring your backed-up Dragon’s Dogma 2 save is rather hit-and-miss. While you can simply copy and paste your save file back into the correct folder, it doesn’t seem that it always restores the save back to its current state. However, there is a way to circumvent this issue.

Firstly, make sure you start a new Dragon’s Dogma 2 save and create your Arisen. After the game saves inside the Excavation Gaol, close the title and turn off Steam Cloud backups.

Now, return to the win64_save folder and delete the new save data. Paste in your original save data and restart the game. You should now see the option to resume from the last save and from last inn rest. Once the game loads, you should be playing on your old save.

How to keep multiple Dragon's Dogma 2 save files

Annoyingly, Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t support multiple save files on any platform. However, when playing on PC, you can back up as many save files as you wish to keep track of different characters. While it is a pain to keep restoring save files to play as new Arisens, it is still a way to have multiple heroes if you wish.
