Dungeons and Dragons is all about decision-making, and the Baldur’s Gate 3 Planecaster choice is one of the more impactful ones. That’s why we’ve come up with this guide to provide you with some information on the possible outcomes of your decisions here.
Choices matter in Baldur’s Gate 3, as they can influence how you interact with your companions or how certain plots play out. Some find a thrill in making these decisions on the spot, but it's totally understandable to do a little research before finalizing your choice in-game.
So, let’s go ahead and find out what consequences the Baldur’s Gate 3 Planecaster choice has in store for you after making your decision.
Consequences for entering the Planecaster
Whether or not you go into the Planecaster is entirely up to you, so do whatever feels right for your character. Just keep in mind that your decision here can lead to two wildly different outcomes.
If you choose to leave the current area without entering the Planecaster, Lae’zel will end up attacking the party and you will need to kill her, leaving you with one less ally for the rest of your adventure. You can leave by using the main door or solving a nearby statue puzzle.
Decide to enter the Planecaster and you’ll find yourself inside the Astral Prism. Here, you’ll be tasked with making another tough choice.
Should you kill the Dream Visitor?
After entering the Planecaster, you will have to decide between killing the Dream Visitor or sparing their life. Once again, the decision is ultimately yours to make but it will have consequences on what parts of this quest play out.
The Dream Visitor, also known as the guardian, is the NPC you customize during the character creation process. If you attempt to kill the Dream Visitor, you will find that this is an impossible task and that your guardian is just testing you. You will lose favor with the Dream Visitor if you go this route.
Choose to spare the Dream Visitor, and they will express gratitude for trusting them. No matter which decision you go with here, Vlaakith will end up attacking your party when you return to camp.
