Just announced and made available to pre-order is the AYANEO Flip KB and DS models, which will certainly look familiar to fans of the Nintendo DS. But for those of you intrigued by the latest product from AYANEO, you may be wondering what to expect when it arrives.

AYANEO has plenty of competitors worthy of the best gaming handhelds list, including the upcoming AYANEO Next Lite, which is a budget portable PC for those looking to play PC games without ruining your bank account. But the new AYANEO Flip models are certainly a unique entry.

AYANEO Flip KB, DS release date

All of the AYANEO Flip models should be available by the end of April 2024, with some versions offering release windows of March 2024, and others having April release dates. There's no exact date for any of the models, aside from the release months.

As with many other AYANEO products, there are some options with varying specs in the AYANEO Flip range, as well as different prices for each variant.

Prices vary for each model. The AYANEO Flip KB is priced between $702 for the 7840U model with 512GB of storage and 16GB DDR5 RAM, and $1,244 for the highest model, which is the 8840U with 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. The Flip DS is a little more expensive, with the same specs setting you back $742 for the base model, and $1,285 for the most expensive one.

Both of the Flip models can be purchased via the IndieGoGo campaign right now. We'd argue the most expensive model isn't really worth it, as 64GB of RAM will be overkill for most people, so we'd recommend opting for the base 8840U model or the middle option of 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.

We recently reviewed one of AYANEO's recent products, the AM01 Retro Mini-PC. In our AM01 review, we called it "an exciting device holding modern hardware wrapped in a retro-inspired chassis", while stating that the specs somewhat hold it back. However, the Flip certainly seems more powerful that the AM01, so we expect this to be a great product for those wanting a unique portable PC.
