Maybe your bank card has expired, or you don't have enough money in that particular account. Perhaps your current payment method just isn't working today – it happens. On that occasion, you'll have to know how to change your default payment on your Android device.

The Google Play Store is a place you can go on your Android device to purchase content. Whether you're buying a new video game, album, book or just renting a movie, the Play Store is the go-to place for content on your smartphone or tablet.

Linked to your Gmail account, they accept a variety of payment methods, such as credit card, debit card, and Play Store vouchers.

But what happens if you want to update your payment, for instance because you have a new credit card?

How to change your payment method

On your Android device, open the Google Play Store app.

Tap 'Menu' then 'Payments and subscriptions' and then 'Payment methods'.

You can then choose 'Add payment method' if you want to add a new card for example.

If you want to edit an existing payment method, tap 'Edit' under that payment type.

Next you can make the necessary changes.

Finally, press 'Update', and your payment options will be changed.
