Back in February Activision announced a new Call of Duty: Warzone experience, without confirming whether or not there would be a Warzone 2 PS4 or Xbox One version.

And given the difficulty people have had in acquiring the new generation of consoles, that potentially leaves millions of Call of Duty fans wondering whether they will be left behind. Which, as any soldier knows, is a bit of an issue.

While there has been plenty of detail about Modern Warfare 2, details for Warzone 2 have been thin on the ground. But more information has come to light in recent weeks. So we can now confirm what you need to know. Is Warzone 2 coming to PS4 and Xbox One? Let's find out. You may also be interested to know the Warzone 2 system requirements.

Is Warzone 2 Coming To PS4?

The all-important information you need is buried in the Modern Warfare II announcement from June 8.

Right at the end of the announcement, they write:

Starting October 28, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is scheduled for release on PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC Battle.net, and PC Steam. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is scheduled for release later this year on the same platforms.

We've highlighted the key point, namely that Warzone 2 is slated for release on the same platforms listed for MW2. And given that the PS4 is listed, we are happy to confirm that yes, Warzone 2 is due to come to PS4 as well.

Is Warzone 2 Coming To Xbox One?

It's much the same story for Xbox One as well. With Modern Warfare II due for release on Xbox One on October 28, Activision confirmed that Warzone will be making its way to the same platform later in 2022.

This is good news for anyone who is still playing Warzone on either PS4 or Xbox One, as they will still be able to enjoy the 'wholly new Warzone' with new technology, features and gameplay. Apparently, swimming is going to be a thing.

But that's not all we've learned. In recent days, it appears that a release date for Warzone 2 may also have been leaked.

Warzone 2 Release Date Leaked?

According to a partial screenshot that has been doing the rounds on social media, and reported by Wowhead, Warzone 2 is slated for global launch on Wednesday, November 16 at 10 am.

The suggestion is that this is an internal document that has managed to make its way into the wild. It also lists something called COD Cortez, which is the internal codename for Modern Warfare 2. MW2 is listed for launch at 9 pm on October 27.

We're generally wary of putting all our faith in a partial screenshot on Reddit. But there's nothing inherently suspicious about this particular document. So for now, it gives us a reference point for a potential release date.

And at least now you know that whatever the release date turns out to be, it will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

Update: Release Date Confirmed

At the Call of Duty: Next event on September 15th, Activision cinformed that Warzone 2.0 will launch on November 16th, exactly as had been predicted.

Featuring a new, biggest ever map called Al Mazrah, Warzone 2.0 also promises to offer air, land and sea combat, over a dozen unique vehicles, and a host of other new additions to the game.

So now you know it's available on PS4 and Xbox One, and when you can finally get to try it for yourself.
