The best and WORST icons for Nintendo Switch games, as revealed by a fan vote

The Nintendo Switch is a cute little machine with weird dog-looking controller set-ups and some funky colours to collect.

It makes sense then, that people would take the aesthetic of the digital side of the console seriously as well. This is especially true as Nintendo seems to be completely uninterested in letting us better customise our home screens.

Well, there's a site that focuses entirely on how the Switch icons look called Switch Icon Showdown, and it's judged how this year is going.

So, let's take a look at the best and worst icons according to this site.

The best Nintendo Switch icons

The way that the site works is that anybody can go along and vote for icons. You pick one out of two and you can just keep going for all of time.

This leads to the icons being ranked and you get a top 15 and bottom 15 of the year. This is this year's top 15:

  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Hades
  • World for Two
  • Lost Ember
  • Inmost
  • Spiritfarer
  • Windbound
  • Othercide
  • Gleamlight
  • West of Dead
  • Empire of Sin
  • Manifold Garden
  • Filament
  • The Survivalists
  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe

It seems a lot like indie games have mastered the Nintendo Switch icon here, but it's not always the case.

The worst icons aren't all equally bad, but you can see why they've been labelled as they have.

Here's the list according to the site:

  • Travel Mosaics 5: Walzing Vienna
  • Drums
  • Tennis 1920s
  • Perky Little things
  • GORSD
  • Car Driving School Simulator

We think the thing here is that we've never heard of any of these games. Maybe that's somehow linked?
