1047 Games have confirmed previously that they are planning a Splitgate PS5 upgrade. But they've been a little bit cagier about what it will entail, and when we might expect to see this update arrive. Focus, understandably, has been on improving the stability of the servers, after unprecedented demand left them struggling to cope, and players queuing for hours to get a game.

Given the focus on other matters, what is the latest on the Splitgate PS5 upgrade? Here's what we know.

When Will Splitgate Get A Next-Gen PS5 4K Update?

With over 13 million downloads since the game was launched on console, Splitgate has really exploded in popularity. But what are the implications for a PS5 upgrade?

Well, the developers have been quite coy about when an update might happen, and what might be in it. In their Q&A, they declined to discuss specifics, but there are obvious things that everyone is doing. So that may indicate 4K resolution, and improved frame rate. While this is slightly speculative, it really is the bare minimum you'd expect of a PS5 upgrade.

In terms of a release date, we still don't actually have answer. We know they have been prioritising server capacity and stability. And presumably will continue to do so, given the huge growth in player numbers. There is some other significant information that needs to be borne in mind as well, that potentially has a huge impact on a Splitgate PS5 upgrade release.

Other Significant Information

1047 Games recently announced a funding round in which they secured $100 million in additional finance. This enormous windfall gives the team the ability to recruit additional developers. This is significant for several reasons.

As they themselves stated, additional developers ensures faster fixes for bugs, more frequent updates, more features, and support for more players. But most significantly in the context of a PS5 upgrade, it means they can dedicate time and resource specifically to next-gen development, with the potential to add more features then they originally intended.

So while it may be frustrating to wait for more news, there is a lot of reason to think that when Splitgate has the development team in place, it will only be a matter of time before a PS5 upgrade arrives. As soon as we know more, we'll let you know.
