Spider-Man Miles Morales PS4 vs PS5: Which version should you play? What will the differences be?

Marvel's Spider-Man was one of the most enjoyable PS4 exclusives thanks to its interesting story and immensely fun gameplay, and Spider-Man: Miles Moraleslooks to be continuing that trend at the start of the next-gen of consoles.

The game, however, released on both the PS4 and PS5, which some people viewed as a little antithetical to Sony's claim about not doing cross-gen games… probably because that's exactly what this is.

It's good news for most of us though, because it means that we can decide on either PS4 or PS5. Which one is right for you?

Should you play Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4 or PS5

If you don't already own Miles Morales, you've got a decision to make, and we want to help you make it.

Miles Morales came out on November 12th, which was either the day the PS5 comes out or a week before it, depending on where you live.

The main thing to consider is the fact that the PS5 version is prettier, load faster, and generally run a little bit better as well. You'll need to buy a PS5 to play it, which, if you haven't yet managed to buy one, could be pretty tricky and expensive to do, meaning the PS4 version could be the better option.

However, since its release, players on the PlayStation 4 have expressed their concerns over how well the game is optimised for the console, citing huge frame drops, freezes, and game-breaking glitches.

It's also worth mentioning that the PS5 version's Ultimate Edition also includes Spider-Man PS4 Remastered, and so if you want to see Peter Parker with a new face, it could be worth buying.

Can you play Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4 AND PS5?

The good news is that if you buy it on PS4 then you'll also own it on PS5 thanks to a free upgrade. That means that you can, if you so choose, play it twice on two different consoles. This is great for people who don't want to or can't afford to upgrade just yet.

Not only will you be able to play it on both consoles, but your save data will transfer over from the PS4 to the PS5, meaning you won't need to start the game over once your shiny new PS5 arrives.

It's also good news for people who like this whole cross-gen thing, which apparently includes Sony now.
