Rainbow Six Siege crossplay - players getting ready for match

Tactical games are always fun in single player, but aren't they incredibly more fun when playing with other real people? EIther in co-op or one against the other, there's always something interesting to do. So let's discuss the possibilities of Rainbow Six Siege crossplay and see if you can play with other Xbox, PS4 and PC owners.

The game originally came out in 2015 but it's still going strong among the more appreciated online games for playing tactical maps with other players.

But can you actually use it with other console owners or are you restricted? There's many possibilities for the Rainbow Six Siege crossplay and we'll take a look at them all.

Does Rainbow Six Siege feature crossplay?

The answer is a resounding yes, Siege can be played with others. The game supports crossplay between PC owners and console owners, regardless if they are playing on an Xbox console or a PlayStation 4. Perhaps, even Google Stadia (well, probably not that anymore...).

But better remember that matchmaking is indeed restricted on compatible platforms. So if you are looking to play from a PC to someone with PlayStation 5, then that won't work, as Ubisoft explained. The crossplay is restricted between consoles and PC platforms (formerly Stadia, or the few Luna owners).

How to activate crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege

But if you are looking to play with others, you have to make sure that crossplay is activated. In order to activate crossplay, you have to make sure the related option is active in the menu.

Here's how to do it:

  • Select the Options menu.
  • Scroll down to the "General" tab and find "Crossplay Matchmaking"
  • Make sure that it is on.

Of course, you can also decide to turn if off entirely. In that case, your matchmaking will be limited to PCs on your network or console in your "family". Also remember that chat text is inactive on Xbox, so players will be unable to see your messages while playing there.

That's all you need to know about Rainbow Six Siege crossplay. But if you're having problems running the game, check out our guides on servers down and how to fix Rainbow Six Siege crashing on Xbox One.
