PS5 power: The Last Of Us 2 developer talks huge leap forward

The Last Of Us 2is finally approaching, with the huge PlayStation exclusive launching on May 29th.

While players have been eagerly awaiting the game, many will likely be wondering if there's any possibility of the title coming to PlayStation 5, or whether it'll be playable via backwards compatibility.

We'll have to wait some time for that kind of information, but we do know that Naughty Dog are very excited to work with the new hardware.

The Last Of Us Part 2 co-director talks PS5 specs

Widely regarded as one of the industry's finest development studios, Naughty Dog is no stranger to pushing consoles to their limits.

Kurt Margenau, Co-Game Director on Naughty Dog's upcoming sequel to the 2013 original, has offered some insight into what makes the PlayStation 5 so special.

Regarding the console's SSD, Margenau had the following to say.

A sizeable portion of Sony's PS5 'Deep Dive' event focused on the benefits of the SSD, and how it can change the way levels are designed going forward.

Of course, Naughty Dog is a first-party studio, so we'd hope they'd be excited about the PS5 hardware – if they weren't, they wouldn't have a lot else to work on.

Interestingly, one of the key developers on the first Last Of Us game has also been hyping up next-gen with a particular focus on the graphics.

With all of this in mind, it seems safe to expect Naughty Dog to have some big things in the pipeline for the next generation of gaming. Here's hoping the Sony-owned studio announces a PS5 game soon.
