While the next generation of consoles is looming, promising the PS5 and the Xbox Series X before the end of the year, many people are currently hunting around for a PS4 or an Xbox One to keep them entertained in the coming months.
In fact, you could easily argue that now is the perfect time to pick one of these consoles up thanks to the huge backlog of excellent games and the lower price.

Xbox One games
Microsoft has had an odd one when it comes to games this generation. They've undoubtedly put out some excellent games with things like Rare Replay, Sea Of Thieves, and Ori And The Will Of The Wisps being extraordinarily good.
However, the exclusives aren't as strong as the PS4 offerings, and many of them appear on PC as well. Of course, if you don't have a PC, then that's not an issue, but if you do, then the PS4 is probably a better choice.

That being said, Xbox Game Pass is a gamechanger. You don't ever have to buy games, not really: simply subscribe to Game Pass and you'll instantly have access to an overwhelming amount of experiences, which probably makes the general experience that little bit better on Xbox One than on PS4.
PS4 games
The PS4 probably has the better collection of console exclusives with games like God Of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Bloodborne leading the charge.
These exclusives can cater to your needs no matter whether you're a multiplayer gamer or someone who likes the single-player experience.
The PS4 has also still got Ghost Of Tsushima and The Last Of Us Part 2 to come this year. When you throw in the vast array of third-party deals and timed exclusivity as well, it's very hard not to consider Sony the winner when it comes to games.

Xbox One vs PS4 price
The introductory price of the Xbox One was £429, while the PS4 launched with a cost of £349.99. However, over the years, various variations and bargain-stuffed bundles have evened the playing field to make a price comparison something of a moot point.
You could argue that Microsoft has gone after cheapness in a bigger way than Sony, with products like the Xbox One S often being a real bargain on Amazon.
When it comes down to making a decision, though, it really depends on what you're looking for. The PS4 certainly has better exclusives, but it's very hard to argue with the sheer value of Xbox Game Pass.
It all depends on which games you like the look of more. The PS4 runs a little smoother for the most part too, so it's down to what you want out of your next big purchase. Whichever console you choose, have fun!
