PS4 notification settings: How to turn notifications off, so your friends don't bother you during gameplay


The PS4, despite not being as up to date as the PS5, is still a pretty great console.

It does come with a few annoying traits though, and knowing how to deal with this is really important to getting the most out of it.

One of the best features is the notifications you can set up whenever someone comes online, or you get a trophy, or something is installed, or you get a message, or your friends join a part, or there's a game alert.

Wow, that's a lot of notifications, maybe it'd be good if you could just turn them all off instead and relax.

How to turn off your notification on PS4

Thankfully for you, doing this is actually pretty easy to do.

Just head on over to your Settings and then choose Notifications, you can then just click on Pop-Up Notifications and then turn off Display Pop-Up Notifications.

You can actually do a lot more than that though if you want to, and it's all in that menu.

What else can you do with your notifications on PS4?

Aside from flat-out turning them off, you can do a vast swathe of other things as well.

For example, you can choose to only have them off while you're watching videos. You can also turn off individual kinds of notifications to make sure you only see what you want to see.

You can even hide message previews so that nothing sensitive will pop-up in front of anyone else. It allows for a lot more privacy, and it's a good suite of options for those who like to be in control of what they're PS4 alerts them to.

With all of this now firmly lodged in your brain, you have all the power you need to do what you want with notifications.
