New Bethesda games 2021: What will release in the first year of Xbox ownership?

It's been a big year for gaming in 2020, with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X finally out alongside a huge swathe of games and business deals that mean that next year is going to be a bit different.

For starters, and the key reason for this article, Microsoft bought Bethesda, and that could have a huge impact on Sony consoles specifically.

It's hard to say for sure what will happen, but we can take a pretty good guess.

So, here's what you need to know about Bethesda in 2021.

What games are Bethesda releasing in 2021?

As it stands, the only games actually penned in for 2021 are DEATHLOOP and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

There's no firm release date for either of those, but it's also highly likely that they're not the only games we'll be seeing from the studio next year, especially as it's the 10th anniversary of Skyrim, which might mean we see the game ported directly into our brains.

While Microsoft has said they'll honour the exclusives coming to PS5, both of which are mentioned above, it's impossible to know for sure what'll happen going forwards.

Will the games come to consoles that aren't owned by Microsoft?

That being said, while it is possible that Microsoft will keep all future Bethesda titles just on their own platforms, it seems unlikely given how seemingly unbothered they are by exclusivity.

Their main focus seems to have become more about services with things like xCloud and Game Pass, and that might mean that things won't really change for PS4 and PS5 owners.

However, it also means that it's quite likely that we get Bethesda games on Game Pass at launch from now on, and that's pretty damn cool.
